She expanded her book tour for 107 Days, adding stops in key Democratic primary states and cities with large Black voter populations, including South Carolina, Detroit, Memphis, and Jackson, Mississippi. She also appeared at the Democratic National Committee’s winter meeting in Los Angeles, where she and her husband, Doug Emhoff, met with party leaders and activists.

Harris is also reshaping her political message. In a speech to Democratic officials, she criticized both parties and the political status quo, arguing that the system has failed to earn public trust and that voters are ready for major change. Her rhetoric marked a noticeable shift from her more defensive tone during the 2024 campaign.

Early polling shows Harris remains near the top of the Democratic field for 2028, with strong support among Black voters, a crucial voting bloc in Democratic primaries. While some state-level polls show competition from figures like California Gov. Gavin Newsom and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, national surveys continue to place Harris in the lead.
