Killer Cop Fired 10 Rounds Of Ammunition At Subsidy Protesters – Witness

A prosecution witness, Inspector, Olumide Alagbe yesterday told a Lagos High Court, Igbosere that DSP. Segun Fabunmi, who allegedly murdered a protester during the January 2012 fuel subsidy protest, fired 10 rounds of ammunition from his AK-47 at the protesting crowd.
Alagbe, who investigated the crime, gave the information, while being led in evidence by the prosecutor, Mrs Olabisi Ogungbesan, the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Fabunmi, a former Divisional Police Officer of Pen Cinema, Agege Police Station, is standing trial before the court for allegedly murdering one Adedamola Daramola during the protest.
The embattled ex-police officer is also being prosecuted for attempted murder and inflicting grievous injury on three others while shooting at protesters at Yaya-Abatan.
It will be recalled that at the last sitting of the court, another prosecuting witness, Chizoba Odoh, had told the court that the defendant shot at the crowd during the fuel subsidy protest while they ran.
According to the witness, it was while they were running that Daramola was killed and he with three others sustained bullet wounds.
Confirming that shot was indeed fired by the accused, Alagbe told the court that the AK-47 rifle used by Fabunmi was loaded with 60 rounds when he (the defendant) and his team were heading to Yahaya Abatan (the crime scene).
