Lagos Police command arrests armed robbers using police uniforms

Four armed robbers who specialize in robbing with police uniforms have been arrested and paraded by the Lagos state Police command. The four men named Julius George, Samuel Orgah, Lucky Oliseh and Lucky Friday were arrested by the police force at the Ile Zik area on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on the 22nd of June Punch reports.

From their confessions, it was gathered that other operations carried out by the gang included robbing a trailer load of rice at Oju-Elegba area worth N4.5m and a tanker carrying engine oil worth N11m. They were arrested during the Ile Zik area operation, which was said to be their fourth operation, and involving about N8m. Continue...

Ring leader of the gang, 34 year old Julius George from Benue state who is married with children in his confessional statement said he led the other men into the act by deceiving them that he was a police man. He said he bought the police uniform materials in the market, made them into the uniforms and gave them to his gang members.
"This was not the first time we would use police uniforms for robbery. In 2013, I was arrested by the police and charged to court. I was remanded for some time, but my family came and I was released on bail. Later, the court discharged me for want of evidence. While in remand at the Kirikiri Prisons, I met Sam (Orgah). When I came out of prisons, a friend of mine called Benjamin invited me again for another job. I was asked to escort a truck of engine oil from Apapa to Mushin, because they still regarded me as a policeman. They paid me N5,000 when they offloaded.” he said
33 year old Samuel Orgah who is also from Benue state said he was an imprisoned armed robber who took to his bad ways after he regained his freedom in 2011. For Oliseh Lucky from Delta state, he said he came in contact with the gang leader,  George, only three weeks before their arrest when George invited him for the N8m robbery in Ile Zik area.

Friday Lucky who says he is a clearing and forwarding agent working at a shipping company in Apapa Lagos said he met George three months ago at Iyana-Oba and had never engaged in armed robbery. He said he was only invited to help collect money for Friday and did not know he was an armed robber
“I have never gone on an operation with Mopol before. He only invited me to come with him to collect money. I did not know it was robbery,” he said.
The Lagos Police PRO Ngozi Baide says the State men are currently being investigated.

20years old Pakistani woman gang raped, killed and hanged from a tree

A 20 year old Pakistani lady identified as Muzammil Bibi was found strangled and hung on a tree after resisting rape attempts by three men. Police in Pakistan say the young lady was accosted by the men in a field at the densely populated Punjab province and when she tried to resist being raped, they beat her up, raped her, strangled her and afterwards hanged her on a tree, local media reports.

Speaking on the incident, Pakistani Senior Police Officer, Sadaqat Ali Chohan expressed shock, saying this was the first time such a thing would happen in Pakistan.
"This is the first time in my 22 years of service in the police that I have seen such a case where a girl was raped in this way and found hanging from a tree. We have heard of such cases in India but never in Pakistan. The girl's clothes were torn. We took her down and moved her to hospital. Her body had signs of resistance. We have arrested three individuals who have confessed o the crime" he said
Police said her parents spent all night looking for her and found her body hanging the next morning. Only last month, a similar case was recorded in India where two female cousins were gang raped and later hanged from a tree.
Boko Haram members around 7am today June 21st attacked two villages, Koronginim and Ntsiha near Chibok in Borno state killing scores of people.

An eye-witness from one of the villages attacked, Koronginim, said the men were over 20, and came to their village in two vehicles painted in army colour and all carried sophisticated weapons. He said villagers didn't at first run for their lives when they saw the men because they believed they were soldiers, but then the men opened fire and started shooting people dead.

Pics: Ritualists invade Ebonyi state; Mother loses 2 children in one night

A shrine where ritual killings allegedly takes place has been discovered in the Ishiagu community in Ivo LGA of Ebonyi State. In the shrine, human parts sell for between N500,000 and N1million. Scary stuff! Read the full report from Saturday Sun below...
It was gathered that when the nefarious activities going on in the shrine were exposed, youths of the community went wild and destroyed the shrine as well as the property of the Chief priest and two suspected agents (names withheld by us) from Ngwogwo community. Among the items recovered from the shrine is a picture of the Chief priest holding something that looks like a human hand as well as a register said to be containing the names of the people who had been killed by the evil men and those yet to be killed.

And to prevent the situation from getting out of hand, the police stormed the community and arrested some people.

When the reporter went to Ishiagu on May 7, there was apprehension in the air. Apparently gripped by fear, the villagers kept sealed lips. Even the traditional ruler, HRH Eze Lawrence O. Chukwu, Ibina 1 of Okue autonomous community, an old fellow, claimed that he had not been properly briefed on the matter.

However, the body language of the people spoke volumes. They appeared to be living in palpable fear. For instance, an indigene of the community, Mr Charles (surname withheld) who was supposed to be our contact person chickened out when the reporter arrived Ishiagu. In fact, in Ishiagu, the fear of ritualists is the beginning of wisdom. Or so it seems.

And this is coming not long after suspected ritualists invaded the community and stole nine children. Mrs Nnenna Emmanuel Okonkwo, a mother of six, whose two children were stolen in one night told the reporter: “As I was sleeping, I was woken up at 4am when I heard the sound of my door being broken. I began to shout inside my room, ‘who is that? Who is that? Who is that?’ Then some men broke down the door and pointed their light at my face. They started dragging my eight-month old son with me and I called out to my mother-in-law in the next room, telling her that some people had broken into my room to take away my baby. As I was struggling with them, they gave me dirty slaps on either side of the cheek. The impact of the slaps as my eyes were covered with blood. As they were taking my child away, my husband’s younger sister blocked them outside. So, they kicked her with their boots and she fell, hitting her waist on the ground.

“Then, they went to the other room where my mother-in-law and my daughter were sleeping and broke down the door as well. They entered the room and took away my daughter, aged three years and seven months who was sleeping with her grandmother. My mother in-law shouted that they can shoot her but leave her grand children, but they refused. They carried the two children into the vehicle they parked outside. Before our neighbours could come out, they had zoomed off. Since then, we have not set eyes on the children. My mother in-law said she could not live with what happened; that it was better for her to die. And she died two weeks later.”

In a related development, a six-man gang which specialised in the sale of human parts for ritual purposes in Nkwerre, Imo State was recently smashed by the local vigilance group. It was gathered that when members of the gang were arrested, they confessed that they had been kidnapping their victims at various locations in the state. They also volunteered that they use the vital organs of their victims for rituals even as some were harvested and sold to people who needed them to transplant failed organs.

Confessing to the crime, they explained that the prices for their ‘goods’ were not fixed. According to them, they sold the parts between N500,000 and N1million, depending on what was in demand.
The gory act assumed a life of its own when the men took members of the local vigilance group and policemen to their abattoir in a forest in Umugara village, Nkwerre where the decomposing corpses of some of their victims, mostly women and children were found.

In Ibiasoegbe in Oru West LGA of Imo State, a 66 year-old woman identified as Mrs. Josephine Okorie was gruesomely murdered in her farm recently.

Few days after Mrs. Okorie, who was a church warden at St. Paul’s Curch, Ibiasoegbe was killed, the people of Umuakaje Umuseke, Okwudor community in Njaba LGA was thrown into mourning and confusion following the killing of one of their daughters, 28 year-old Mrs. Chikodi Nzerem. Her three-month old baby boy was also stolen by the cradle snatchers who cut off her head.

A source said: “Apparently, the ritualists wanted to go away with their victim’s decapitated head but when they heard the voice of another woman, who was coming along the bush path, they escaped, abandoning both the head and the body. The woman raised the alarm and other farmers came but the evil people had escaped.”

In the same vein, Mrs Chikodi Nzerem, a widow and nursing mother of a four month-old baby boy, was murdered in her father’s house in Okwudor in Njaba LGA of Imo State. Her baby was also stolen.

Family sources alleged that the mother of three was sent to the great beyond by her boyfriend who had pestered her for marriage without success since her husband died about two years ago. “I believe she was killed because she refused to hand over the child to her boyfriend and no one knows what has become of the tot. Perhaps, it has been used for ritual,” said Chikodi’s sibling.

Indeed, investigation revealed that ritualists are on the prowl looking for people to devour. Hence the rate of ritual attacks and killings have increased considerably in recent times. It is the same story everywhere, as no part of the country is being marginalised on this score.

On March 1, Mrs Zainab Mohammed was brutally raped at Kukshi village, Dass LGA of Bauchi by three men who also plucked her eyes with a knife for ritual.

The victim, a 30-year old mother of four who is physically challenged, said: “They held my neck and I almost died. They twisted my hands, they opened my two and took turns to rape me. I was fainting. Then they brought an object – I don’t know whether it was a knife or not and they started removing my left eye. I screamed and tried to struggle but they removed my left eye. They started removing the other eye and I screamed louder.”

It was learnt that the evil men took the woman’s eye to a native doctor who allegedly offered them N1million.

In May, a 54-year old grandmother, Sukuratu Salami and three others including a cemetery guard were paraded at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja for trading in human parts such as skulls, bones, liver and intestines.

Salami, a mother of three children whose ages are 30, 27 and 23 years respectively, explained that she was tempted to go into the weird business by the irresistible offer from a voodoo practitioner. “A herbalist approached me last and asked for human parts. When he told how much they buy parts, I was tempted. I approached one Tantoloun, who works in a grave yard. He sold a skull for N10,000 and I sold it in turn for N20,000. Greed made me to continue until I was arrested. I bought pieces of bones N2,000, liver and intestines for N1,000 each and resell for N5,000 or more depending on the buyer’s bargaining power.”

It could, indeed, be said that ritualists are running riot in the South West.

In March, a man was caught in Ibadan, Oyo State with three human tongues. The incident occurred three days after the shocking discovery of the horror forest at Soka area of Ibadan where scores of skulls, human skeletons, mutilated and decomposing bodies were found.

In April, an eight-year old girl identified as Amarachi missed death by the whiskers as a mobile policeman, Gbuchenge Augustine with Force Number 400823 allegedly wanted to use her for rituals.
Amarachi was found under the policeman’s bed in his one-room apartment at Olufowobi Street, Ikosi-Ketu, Lagos with her mouth gagged and her hands and legs tied.

Amarachi’s father, Mr Patrick Abakwan, said that before his daughter was rescued, “the man had twisted her neck and used an object to break her skull thinking she would die in the process but God saved her.”

Also in April, a storey-building that allegedly served as the operational base of ritualists was uncovered in Akinremi Estate in Adigbe area of Ogun State. Discovered at the den were suspected human blood in a calabash, a coffin, human effigy, a live scorpion and personal effects believed to belong to victims who might have been wasted.

The discovery came barely 24 hours after a similar scene was discovered in Egbado village in Ewekoro LGA of the state.

Horror of immense proportion played out in Egwudinage Obegu village in Ebonyi State recently when a 30-year old man simply identified as Chukwudi allegedly killed and beheaded his 56-year old father, Michael. After severing the head of his father, Chukwudi drank his blood and ate up his neck.
Maintaining that Chukwudi’s action might not be unconnected with ritual killing, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Chris Anyanwu disclosed: “He (Chukwudi) was arrested on April 1, 2014 and before he was arrested, he was running and waving his machete which he used to cut his father’s head and threatened to kill anybody who moved close to him. Meanwhile he was overpowered and arrested but was caught eating the part of the severed head, after he ate-up the entire neck of the severed head. I think it is not unconnected with ritual killing because it does appear he may have been asked to do such a thing.”

On June 10, a young boy hawking belts on Alhaji Jamiu Sulaimon Street in Itele, Ota area of Ogun State escaped death by the skin of his teeth as he was almost killed by suspected ritualists who lured him into a house on the pretext that they wanted to patronise him.

It was learnt that the boy was hawking with his friend when he was called into the compound. But when the boy did not come out after about 30 minutes, his friend raised the alarm. And when the police stormed the house, an attempt had been made to slaughter him, as there was a big gash on his neck. One of his eyes was oozing blood, perhaps an attempt was made to pluck it.

The Ogun State PPRO, Mr Muyiwa Adejobi said: “Our men from the Itele Division moved in as soon as they got a report about the house suspected to be used by kidnappers and succeeded in rescuing the boy alive even though he was in bad shape.”

Recently, a heap of over 20 human skulls, skeletons and decomposing bodies were uncovered at Kilometre 15 on the Aba/Azumini Highway, otherwise known as ‘No man’s land’ after Akpaa village in Obingwa LGA of Abia State. There, victims are butchered and their vital organs removed. One of the victims was identified as 26-year old Onyekachi Chukwu, who hailed from Ahaba Imenyi in Isuikwuato LGA of Abia State.

A source attributed the upsurge of ritual killings to forthcoming election and the get-rich-quick syndrome. “As we approach the election year, many desperate politicians will go to any length in order to win election. They will engage the services of native doctors who may request for human body parts to do the medicine. And because the end justifies the means for them, they will engage thugs to kidnap and kill people whose body parts will be removed and forwarded to the native doctors who requested for them.

“Again, the get-rich-quick bug seems to have bitten more people nowadays. And such desperados are ready to do anything, including harvesting human organs for money rituals,” the source said.

Gwoza Christians notice disturbing details about 6 girls kidnapped by BH is 2013

Found this report on Sahara Reporters...quite scary! Read below...
The Gwoza Christian Community Association in Borno State has released details of disturbing disclosures made by six Christian girls who were abducted in 2013 by the dreaded Boko Haram sect.
The girls were abducted last year from different locations in Gwoza local government area. Their statements revealed that, following their abduction, they were subjected to serial rapes by Boko Haram terrorists. In addition, they were turned into domestic slaves in various Boko Haram camps before they pulled off their daring and lucky escapes. Continue...

Istifanus Ibrahim, one of the Christians in Gwoza, disclosed that the extremist Islamist sect had many abducted girls in their camps long before their abduction of more than 200 students from Government Secondary School, Chibok, in Borno State drew international media attention and global outrage.
Below are the summaries provided by the Christian community in Gwoza from the extensive statements of the six girls who escaped from Boko Haram camps. The girls’ names and other identities have been concealed for their security and in order to protect them from stigmatization:

Captive for 12 days in Boko Haram Camp in Sambisa (15th May 2013 - 26th May 2013).
She boarded for commercial bus at Tashan Bama in Maiduguri on 15th May 2013. There were five men in the vehicle when they took off. She was the only female among them. When they reach Bama Local government around Firgi area in Borno State, some Boko Haram members with heavy weapons abducted them and they were taken to Boko haram camp in Sambisa Games Reserve.

Immediately after their arrival they slew the five men with knife in her presence. She was there in their camp for 12 days when they slew more than 50 people in her presence. Whenever they bring a hostage, they check their identity card and differentiate them base on their belief, if your Christian they killed you, if the victim happened to be Muslim they recruit them. Those who refused they slew them.

It was one faithful day on 26th may 2013 that she escaped when the insurgent distance themselves from them to service their weapons and equally trained the new recruit on how to handled guns. She was pondered on how to run when she saw how females were killed.

They told her to get ready for conversion the following morning, and fortunately God took control of the event and one young man among the captive took courage and jump into one of their cars and started it. Eventually she and other six young men entered the car and they drow off. Unfortunately the Boko Haram followed them and succeeded in killing four but she and the driver escaped. That was how they abandon the vehicle and trek for some more Kilometers to get to the main road.

Captive for 3 Months in Boko Haram at Gwoza Hills (12th May 2013 - 13th Sept 2013)

This was a girl abducted by the insurgents in early May 2013 and was in their custody for about three months before her escape in September, 2013 by the grace of God. Luckily they did not sexually abuse her as she was groomed to marry the insurgent leaders' junior brother. However, she suffered beating even at point of death to convert to Islam and forced to wear their 'hijab' as they go from one hiding came to another atop the mountain hills where they are based.

She even followed them to the attack on Gwna police station conveying the bullets they used during the attack. Her escaped gave her a new life of hope but never believed it was really true until she was taken out of Borno State.

Her parents' home and the whole village were attacked after her escape, burning all the houses and killing two people in revenge. She was later examined and found physically fine.

Held captive for 22 days in Boko Haram at Gwoza Hills (30th Sept. 2013 - 20th Oct. 2013)
It was around 8:00pm on 30th September, 2013 when Boko Haram with heavy weapons came and broke into her brothers room and shoot him. They took his wife out and put a gun to her head, but when they heard another strange event outside the compound, the insurgents came back again and asked the ladies including her to come out. There they captured herself, her sister & her brother's wife and took them away as captives. They were taken to the camp on the mountain top in Ghwa'a village where the leader of the Boko Haram stayed.

She who is a dedicated Christian was asked to denounced Christ and accept Islam or else she would be slaughtered. Out of fear she agreed and they ceremonially cited Quran verses, gave her a veil (Himar) and named her Maryam.

After converting her she was taken to (Emir) leader of the camp who was called Ibrahim Tada Nglayire and she was married one of the insurgents called Abdul, where she was sexually abused. After that, he asked her to perform an exercise of taking water from a kettle to bath with it as sign of cleansing from the sex they had. Which he called WAKAN JANABA.

The insurgents gets their money from External sources, she always heard them mentioning Arab countries etc. Some among their local sponsors whom they mention were some District Heads in Borno State and a member of the State House of Assembly . They always thanked them for supporting with money and protection. On the 20th of October, 2013, when the insurgent have left to get their ammunition, their leader's wife brought them together in a conversations. That was how she escaped.

Held captive for 22 days in Boko Haram at Gwoza Hills (30th Sept. 2013 - 20th Oct. 2013)

She was kidnapped by Boko Haram on 30th September, 2013. She was taken to their camp. The following sub-gang leader of the insurgent took her to the Emir, (Ibrahim Tadaghleke) for an update on how they captured them. When Ibrahim saw her, he immediately ordered her conversion to Islam and gave her a husband. The husband came in the night to sexually abused her, when she refused he brought his gun and knife to kill her if she attempt to stop him again. He left her when he discovered she was on her monthly period.
They normally speak Kanuri language, Arabic and Hausa talking about Some District heads and a member of the State House of Assembly. Popular in their conversation is that, they hate President Jonathan because he is Pagan and sent the Army to kill them. She escaped when she tactically dropped her shoes on the entrance of the door. She picked a kettle with pretence to enter toilet. That was how she made her way to escape. They went through serious challenges, but God save her.

Held captive for 22 days in Boko Haram at Gwoza Hills (28th Sept. 2013 - 20th Oct. 2013)
She was captured and held as a slave by the Boko Haram group on 28th September, 2013. Their house was invaded by the insurgents. In their palour, they asked for their names. When they found out they were Christians, they went with her. They started going up the hill for almost 2 days on foot. When they reached a village called KWATARA, one of them went from there and entered another village. It took them additional (8) eight hours before they reach a place in a cave on top of Mandara mountains hills, where they were kept for almost two weeks before proceeded to another location
She was converted to Islam and was given a Muslim name called HASIYA, and married to an insurgent. She was raped and sexually abused by force under a treat of Gun. She was only 15 years old and still a virgin.

Held captive for 5 days in Boko Haram at Gwoza Hills (19th Nov. 2013 - 23th Nov. 2013)

They met her around the Cameroonian boarder, caught her and started beating her. One among the Boko Haram pulled her veil, tore it and tied her hands behind and started beating her with plastic pipes. Another one of the insurgents dragged her and tied another rope behind her and pulling her like animal. She was then taken to the mountains travelling throughout the night where they went to a village in the hill they call Hraza. It was too gloomy because there were so many branches within the caves. She quickly agreed to convert to Muslim with a knife of her throat, on 19 November, 2013. They cited Quranic verse which she repeats after them. She was given KALMAN SHAHADA. She saw a man called MALLAM where they were staying. He doesn't come out in a day time, neither does he follow them for operations, but he gives orders and instruction as final authority. He doesn't open his face. He is aways in a veil like Arab man, in all white clothes. The second in command was called Ibrahim Tadagleke and then mallam Audu and Mallam Saidu, whom were the operational commanders.
On the 21 November, 2013, the overall MALLAM, who was in charge of giving orders came out and went round the camp around 5:00pm - 6:00pm. He was accompanied by Ibrahim who they called Emir followed by operational commanders and then over 80 armed insurgents were behind him. Some among their sponsors where late Mohammed Gadafi before he died. People from Chad were used to import the weapons, on Carmel and herdsmen from Niger.
Their main funds comes from Afghanistan and Iraq. They always thanked the Arab countries. Most of the people that sponsored them locally were disguised. She escaped from them on 23 November, 2013.

Over 100 people were killed on Tuesday night after Boko Haram men attacked 4 villages; Attagara, Agapalawa, Ngoshe and Aganjara in the Gwoza local government area of Borno State.

News of the attack is just being heard because the men destroyed the telecommunications mast in the villages during the attacks.

Reports say the men dressed as military personnel deceived the villagers that they came to protect them, only to gather them together and began to shoot them. Some of the villagers who tried to run into the bush for safety were pursued and killed by the sect men who came in terrain vehicles and motorbikes and armed with Kalashnikov assault weapons and rocket-propelled grenades. According to Hon. Peter Bive, the House of Reps member for the area at the National Assembly who spoke with AFP, he said the attacks on the villages were left many dead.
“There were deadly attacks on these villages by Boko Haram insurgents who killed a large number of people and destroyed homes. We are still trying to compile a toll of the dead as people on the ground are still counting the number of casualties.” he said. He also stated that the sect men have been daring enough in their actions as they have foisted their flags in 7 villages in the region indicating that those areas are now in their control
"Boko Haram have hoisted their flags in at least seven villages in the area which they now claim to be under their control,” he said.

He has been arrested, charged and found guilty of murder. But why did he do it?

21 year old Farooq Shah stabbed 24 year old sex-worker, Ms.Popa on a UK street  21 year old Farooq Shah stabbed 24 year old sex-worker, Ms.Popa on a UK street
21-year-old Farooq Shah has been found guilty of murder after he stabbed and killed Romanian mother-of-one Mariana Popa on the street in U.K.
It is likely Mariana's life ended just because she was being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Shah is said to have robbed a man just before the murder and police say he had the intention of harming someone with the knife he was carrying that night.

Emergency services were called to the area shortly after midnight to reports of an injured woman, who was found with stab wounds to the chest. She was identified as Romanian Ms Popa, 24 – a sex worker who was in the early stages of pregnancy when she died, and also had a six-year-old daughter.
DI Richards said: “(Shah) killed Mariana because she was there, because he thought he could get away with it. In doing so, he has deprived a young daughter of her mother.”
Investigating the murder, officers reviewed hundreds of hours of CCTV footage, some of which captured the murder taking place. Images showed Ms Popa, who had only been in the UK a number of weeks, walking along with a man on a bicycle before he is seen taking a knife from his back pocket and stabbing her twice in the chest.
He makes off on his bike, while Ms Popa collapses at a nearby shop. After tracking down Shah's bike, police arrested him at his home in November. He was found guilty of murder, and will be sentenced later this month.
Guys, what should be done to that man? Send us your thought

According to a breaking news report by Sahara Reporters, Boko Haram men today June 1st bombed a bar and brothel located near a major military base in Mubi, Adamawa State, killing 60 people.
Two security sources in the area told SaharaReporters that a horrendous explosion rocked the bar and brothel which usually teems with civilian and military patrons. The explosion happened close to 6 pm. Nigerian time, both sources said. One of our sources said none of the casualties was a soldier, but the other stated that it was too early to determine whether any of the dead were soldiers.
The bombed facility is a short distance away from the headquarters of the Special Operations Battalion (SOB) of the Nigerian army in Mubi. The battalion is at the center of the Nigerian government's counter-offensive against Boko Haram's increasingly daring attacks on military and civilian targets.
Soldiers based in Mubi frequently join civilians to eat, drink and dance at the watering hole, our sources said, adding that military commanders generally warned soldiers not to stay at the joint past 4 p.m

It was only after angry villagers found the hanging corpses and took the bodies to a nearby highway and blocked it in protest, that police registered a case of rape and murder.

Nigerian lady found dead in her hostel room in South Africa

Nigerian student Naizi Evah, (pictured above) a third year Computer Systems Engineering student of Vaal University of Technology, South Africa was found dead on Saturday May 2014 in her hostel room, this is according to her friends who are trying to get the media involved in the case.

One of her friends who reached out to me said prior to her death, Naizi had been in an abusive relationship with a Zimbabwean student, who also studies in same school with her, studying same course. The unidentified man was arrested by police in connection with Naizi's death but was bailed two days after police said they couldn't find any substantial evidence linking him to her death.

Her friends say the boyfriend had been emotionally and physically abusive towards Naizi, beat her severally and even threatened to kill. They say Naizi got tired of the abuse and broke things off with the man and told close friends she was done with him but he kept on trying to get her back/

Her friends believe she was murdered but don't know by who and want the Nigerian authorities to get involved as they don't believe they will get justice for Naizi with South African police. Naizi was from Edo State and was only 20 years old.
