The 2026 mayoral race is beginning to take shape, with three candidates already announcing campaigns: former LAUSD Superintendent Austin Beutner, Housing Now California deputy director Rae Huang, and neighborhood council member Asaad Alnajjar. Rick Caruso has not yet said whether he will seek a rematch or instead run for governor. The mayoral election is set for June 2, with a runoff scheduled for Nov. 3 if no candidate wins a majority.
