World Cup Bound African Teams Record Poor Outing In Friendlies

Only one of the five African representatives to the 2014 FIFA World in Brazil won its friendly on Wednesday, the day set aside for international friendlies by world soccer’s governing body, FIFA.
PANA reports from Cairo on Thursday that Algeria was the only one of the five to play at home, defeating Slovenia 2-0 to become the only African World Cup team to record a win.
Cote d’Ivoire and Nigeria drew their matches while Ghana and Cameroon lost.
The Ivorians played 2-2 with Belgium, while Nigeria played goalless with Mexico, their third draw in as many matches, in the U.S.
The Black Stars of Ghana lost 1-0 to Montenegro, while the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon were humiliated 5-1 by Portugal.
