Golden Eaglets Wallop Super Falcons 6-0
— April 5, 2014
The new set of Golden Eaglets under the titillate eyes of
Emmanuel Amukine yesterday handed out a 6-0 defeat to the Super Falcons
in friendly game at the FIFA Goal Project Pitch. The match was an
opportunity for the coaching crew to watch their new recruits under
match situation and they responded well.
A first half brace from Chidera Ejuke inspired a comfortable win for Emmanuel Amuneke’s side against the Super Falcons preparing for an international friendly game against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon later this month. Ejuke opened scored barely six minutes into the match with a simple tap in after receiving a pass from Kehinde Ayinde and got his second in the 16th minute after breezing past the Falcons defence.
Paul Obasi got the third goal of the 60 minutes game six minutes on restart of the second half before Kingsley Michael scored the fourth goal of encounter following an assist from Henry Daniel.
Henry who was adjudged man of the match got the fifth goal while Orji Okoronkwo sealed the win with a fine finish in the closing stages of the friendly.
The Golden Eaglets will be facing Mali and Niger in Group B of the 2014 West African Football Union (WAFU) championship to hold between April 19 and 27 in Togo
Speaking after the match, Amuneke said the lads have substance to build upon in the days ahead, insisting that nobody has been guaranteed a place in the team yet. “We are impressed not because of the number of the goals we scored but because the boys have started showing what they have been learning in the last few day,” said the former African Footballer of the Year.
