Maryam Babangida Memorial Junior Tennis Finals Hold Today

The final for 3rd edition of the annual Maryam Babangida
Junior Tennis Championship will hold today at the Minna Tennis Club in
Minna, Niger State.
The championship which is being sponsored by El-Amin Foundation has two categories of 14 and under, 12 and under. The one week event has 130 boys and girls players; and 15 coaches from across 20 states of the federation.
Speaking to sport journalists, at the event, the tournament director Saidu Bala said he is happy with the turnout of players from various states most especially that notice of the tournament got to them late. He maintained that the organisers have lived to expectation of continual sponsorship of the youth programme. According to him, it has provided opportunities for young boys and girls to showcase their talents in the game of tennis.
Meanwhile, the El-Amin foundation is providing free feeding, accommodation and logistics to the players and their coaches, while the Niger State Tennis Association is providing the facilities.
It would be recalled that El-Amin Foundation has sponsored the National Youth Tennis event in three consecutive years with outstanding players winning educational scholarship from the foundation.
